I remember seeing stuff like this get posted around a lot during the post FinalFest of Splatoon 2 era of comp, which was arguably one of the fastest growing times for comp. I agree with the first part, but my only question where do we go from here? Esports is dying and they have money, we don’t. Top level is running on the fumes of barely any motivation and some of them have been grind for closing in on a decade.

Low and mid level are being fueled by goals and motivation, and they still might have a lot left, but not all of them are going to make it to the top. Just ask yourself how do we keep going long term. I’m not saying it is going to die overnight, but we are on a decline, that is a fact

Can I ask how exactly we are on a decline, and if you feel that way then what do you think needs to change? I understand you are talking about a lack of motivation for Top Level, but where do think that lack of motivation comes from and what can we do to help with that?

It’s not any of our faults per se, but just how the system is. We’ve been playing in a very similar meta for nearly a year now and people are bored. Tournaments like low ink that used to get hundreds of signups every cycle I believe got under 100 last cycle, even though they moved to https://sendou.ink

And from what I have seen, people are just beginning to see that even if they do get really good, that doesn’t mean your future is brighter in the game, it just means you have a less goals and less competition at your level. I think there isn’t much we can do because of Nintendo.

In other esports, people push to the top to make money and get signed by orgs. In splatoon, there are very few successful stories of orgs and even less that are interested in splatoon because of how it is structured. Orgs will only invest if there is money to be made, and there isn’t bc of Nintendo.
