While Soto is a great hitter I think he is at best an avg outfielder that I think grows out of that position pretty quickly. The Dodgers have their DH set for the better part of the next 10 years in Ohtani. With remaining money shore up bullpen and middle infield. - ThreadSky

Yeah but the question is does his production outstrip his poor defense. History is riddled with great hitters that are middling defenders

His bat more than makes up for it. An average outfielder is all you need. He’ll likely end up being a DH later in his career anyway.

His bat is fantastic, however as to moving to DH, Shohei has that locked up for the conceivable future. While Dodger resources are deep I still don't see the massive upside to the spend instead of signing Teo for a 3 year deal and then loading up the bullpen and locking down MiF

Yeah but Soto’s production far outstrips Teo. Soto is also just 27. So he can handle RF for a while before you HAVE to move him to DH. Also this assumes Ohtani doesn’t move into the field
