Some teams just do a lot better stats wise, and it was Valour for the longest time. I think it has a lot to do with HFX’s pass-heavy system, I value accuracy and farming short passes helps a lot with that. This is also why I have a team-adjusted grade, which takes into account league performance.

It’s interesting , when I used to coach I realized that one or two players who were particularly weak can kill you. Having a consistent team without weak spots is more important. It’s why the DP system is so flawed from a football perspective. (It’s great for
marketing)

Oh, it’s been stinging for a while! At this point, the recognition of any bright spot in our season is a cool balm - and reassurance that we weren’t wrong to be excited when they played.

Do you have a model for goalkeeping grades, or plans to build one? I imagine that's a whole separate challenge to create.

I HAD one, all the way back in 2021. I found that since there are rarely more than 14 goalkeepers, along with half of those receiving very few minutes, there were too many extremes. That combined with too few statistical categories and the fact football goalkeeping is a lot more than stats...

So do I! (Although Tabla there is a little mystifying, sort of like a polar bear in Texas). Didic definitely should’ve been included in the CPL’s version for though.
