I'm not much into brooding heroes but a lot of my aquiantances seem to have liked Asmodeus from Aliette de Bodard's Dominion of the fallen. "Of Dragons, Feasts and Murders" might be a good stand-alona entry point for the style.
Maybe in modern romantic lit there is, but not classic. (Unless you count Madame Bovary/Anna Karenina etc. Flawed woman trope.)
But I don't know anything about the former genre except it's always been disappointing.
