I guess that climate, ecosystems, pathogens etc have probably changed from when it was originally alive so it could be hell for this animal if it came back

In the case of the thylacine it’s only the 1930s since the last known example died in captivity. Possibly it was even alive as late as the 1980s. So ecosystem change is not that great.
