Only thing that is bad about a delay is that it automatically increases the budget of a game significantly due to increased payroll. That increases the pressure from the publisher and puts the devs at a higher expectation and risk of cuts or closure if the game doesn’t do well.
I'm completely boycotting video games until Elder Scrolls 6 comes out, haven't played a game in 3 yrs. If they don't get it out soon I'll never pick up a controller again.
Yea delays are rarely bad imo, it only becomes an issue if its frequent public delays. Thats just a complete mismanagement or unreasonable timeline expectations from the top.
I feel like game-delay is coping-with-underinvestment and indicative that the product will be
• outdated before it is even released and
• still unpolished when it is released because one or more party involved loses their patience for a return on their investment
While, I totally get people looking forward to a particular game, in 2025 I don’t care what platform you’re playing on,there is a game that you have not played that you would totally enjoy and can hold you over.
I slightly disagree. The only time a game should ever be given a release date is AFTER it's 100% done. The day the team says, "Yep, it's good to go, nothing more we can do." Is the day you announce a release date a month or two down the road.

Duke Nukem Forever took 14 years to make after several delays.
But my reason is not the same as yours.
We have to get our nephew attending college. If GTA6 comes out Sep 1st we f*cked
I’ve only got a ~25% completion rate, and a ~50% play rate (as in spent at least 2 hours on it).
If you’re making a game, as far as I’m concerned, take all the time you’d like to take to work on it.
A game delay has never ruined my excitement about a game or plans to play it.
