And I’m sick that a majority of Americans support this. Then I remember that it has only 60 yrs since the Civil Rights Act was signed - in other words, this kind of inhumane treatment is on brand for America

A majority of Americans don’t support this. Among voters Trump did not reach the 50% threshold. Among registered voters, including those who did not vote, he got something around 30%.
Oh good lord…I’m not including them in non voters and no one else does. I’m talking about registered voters who couldn’t be bothered to get off their ass and vote. Voters prohibited because of systemic reasons are exempted (2% of voters are estimated to be denied because of felonies)
You *do* realize that the vast majority of people don't assume that groups are fully inclusive, yes? Like if you say "All living people breathe", you are to a degree aware that this is not strictly true in all cases yet you can still say it like that, yes?
With a fascist and convicted rapist actively taking office, I don't think I'll differentiate much between voting *for* him and quietly abiding and withholding a vote *against*.
I’m talking about approval rating - Trump has a 49.4% approval as of today (ok a smidge below half)
And yes, the non voters signaled they were ok with any outcome by not exercising their right to vote. Realizing that supporting democracy and basic decency puts me in the minority is very jarring
No. They didn’t. You need to look into how the electoral college, districts, and gerrymandering work, and maybe consider why you’re blaming the people at the bottom, instead of the people at the top who promised nothing and delivered less.
Gerrymandering and districts have nothing to do with the presidential election. Non voters made a conscience decision which means they were ok with whoever win - they would’ve been fine with Harris too
You’re trying to console yourself by putting them in your column and it doesn’t work that way
Districts have nothing to do with presidential elections - it is statewide results that determine how electoral college votes are allocated except for Maine and Nebraska

District level gerrymandering and inaccessible polling places decrease voter participation. It’s a method of voter suppression that impacts statewide and national races. Also, districts impact state legislatures which control state election laws.
The U.S. was built on a clay foundation by some rich white guys who wrote "All men are created equal" on the United States Declaration of Independence while simultaneously owning slaves and actively committing genocide against the native population.
It's working exactly as the founders intended.

you just claimed incarcerated people support this
learn before you speak
funny how you chose to word it the other way🤔
almost like you know you are full of shit🫡
don't
No. Fuck that. Everyone who didn’t vote, chose this also. That’s 70% of the country who supports this and whose actions brought this on.

Fascism won’t discern between sheep and goat.

You know, I knew you didn’t really understand the process, but I had underestimated how deep your vibes-only knowledge ran.
This condescension doesn’t help win them back, and it’s why nobody on either side likes liberals.
Do better.
