Judges still retain the ability to ignore juries though, as a check against "Malicious Juries" Though I will admit on a second check that I found that only applies to guilty verdicts from a jury, so I am feeling more hopeful now - ThreadSky

Acquittals are almost always the end of the line for a criminal case. That's why jury nullification is a thing.

Yes. The best you can do is play by the rules and hold the government accountable. There is no use lying or gaming the system. We can only hope that the jury is composed of reasonable citizens. If there isn't enough evidence though, a conviction is avoidable.
