Ukraine isn’t going to survive this deal as an independent nation and Zelensky knows it. Why lend a veil of legitimacy to confiscation? Trump and Putin will force Zelensky out and install a puppet. Then they’ll take the mineral rights. That was a foregone conclusion the day Trump was elected.

Yeah, it's a horrible betrayal of Ukraine, they are being treated like Germany after WW1. If the final deal requires that US companies participate in the resource extortion, they better read the fine print, or they could end up with Russian workers or subcontractors getting hired to do the work.
