"So much of what has been possible for me in my life has been because I became an American,” the filmmaker says.
"That question has been resolved,” the director says. “You believe in the idea and ideals of this country, and you believe that you have a place here just like everybody else.”
"Things at times get misinterpreted," says the director, who wanted to emphasize a “sense of community, which is something I personally have experienced while living in the US."
