Teaching the Holocaust means exposing my students to the fact that the LGBTQ community was brutalized and largely murdered alongside the Jewish population from 1933-1945. For my LGBTQ kids, it always tugs at my heart to see their facial expressions as they realize they would have been targeted, too.
