It’s better than nothing but I wouldn’t put it in the same class as the polio vaccine or other common vaccines. There’s a reason that most places in North America or Europe don’t routinely administer it.
No the main weapon is stupidity on the part of the potential victim.
Such as not noticing that Measles is the big killer - actually it's probably twice that as measles resets the immune system wiping all previous inoculations and immunities!
Cultivated stupidity by limiting education, for sure, but it only takes 2-3 generations to lose the lived experience of those who went before. People misattribute their health to personal virtue.
The footnote on this chart confuses me. It seems to be saying it doesn't include lives saved for those under 5 years of age, but that most lives saved are under 5 years of age. Am I reading that right?
