I keep seeing clips of Fuckface just rambling on, and I am terrified of getting dementia/Alzheimer's, and I hope my daily puzzling/anagramming/etc. might stave it off, but OTOH, who knows? It’s good to do those things, but my dad was working and researching and all of it, has no family history of dementia, and is still having something beyond absent mindedness. I don’t know why, I need to get on his computer and make the appointment with my PA he promised he’d do, it might be a liver

thing, or it might be that the virus he caught in Russia 30 years ago that knocked out his sense of smell flipped a genetic switch. There’s a theory Alzheimer’s is tied to herpes viruses, and they’ve shown the shingles vaccine is protective against it. As someone taking care of their parents,

I recommend staying active (my mom’s in a rehab with near wheelchair needed level of mobility issues because she didn’t), making a plan now for what you need if you lost mobility and enacting it asap (do renovations before you need an accessible bathroom), and just facing that your body will fail.

Sorry if it’s kinda bleak, it’s been a bad few weeks. Making a plan for being disabled is good, I struggled just with a broken ankle. I’ll be looking at accessibility in any place I live going forward. Being afraid of it and refusing to plan makes it so much worse.
