Yea, like yes I do speed paints, but you don't see me doing it, Any art stream I do is me mainly muttering "Trust the process, trust it!" or getting angry at my art. oddly enough one of the artist channels I love she is a gremlin there is funny moments during recording and she has fun with it

Like she admits she was trying to do nice with the youtube algorithm but she got burnt out hard and now only makes things she herself will like and post when ever and it's just as chaotic as ever if not more and I like that, (KaypeaCreations on youtube if curious)

when its the "Aesthetically pleasing" process I never enjoy it because as an artist I know it's messy and chaotic and def not pretty, especially when you are trying to make sure your cat doesn't knock over your caffeine onto your knitting. Which they did today.

i feel exactly the same. i’ve tried filming some reels but it feels forced and stops me from getting lost in the flow, which is literally the only way i can be creative. if i have to constantly be aware of the camera or of my every move it takes me out and it feels like IM PRETENDING to do art :(

This exactly, I already have little time to spend on art so I decided to stop worrying about making content and just do art. Only when I am in the mood I don’t mind making timelapses of my process with one of those desk overhead stands because then I can forget the camera is there.

i feel you, prioritising content over the craft itself is not only demoralising but it feels empty/soulless. if i have extra time i’d rather spend it studying/practice rather than fussing over camera angles and what to film/edit. will this hurt my sm presence? yes but at least im having fun !!

Yep, also whenever I tried to record something I noticed I was focusing too much on making the angle pretty and avoiding mistakes, which made it less creative/fun and more rigid. I don't mind recording bits when rendering, but hate recording the start or full process.

Even when I’m just recording myself drawing with the intent to edit later, I can’t stop thinking about recording. “Oop gonna have to edit that. Shit, is that gonna register.” Maybe it goes away with exposure but it makes drawing way less fun!

For some reason the camera creates a barrier for me, like I’m not in the moment of creating. If people are confident and relaxed doing it, power to them. I’m not and I wish the algorithms wouldn’t force it on us to do.

Im exactly the same. 🖤. I have clay under my nails or I'm wearing work clothes which are covered in paint, cured resin/silicone. When i work on a project often the room is chaos until its over 😅 . I'm only "human" when i have to set with props 😅
