Maybe that’s a difference between us, but I see part of effective politicking and governing to be educating your base. Republicans ‘educate’ well, I think abt DT with trans ppl (who weren’t relevant b4 2016). Ppl are dumb yes, but reps are taking advantage of that, not inherent evil within ppl.

How much front line stuff have you done? I’ve had a lot of experiences with how people behave when under pressure and it’s not nice. People don’t behave well even if it means hurting other innocent people.

I don’t want to go into what I do for work because I try to be private but my work is literally all about helping people, all front line stuff. Not strictly politically (although it is adjacent). But I enjoy it and it fulfills me and it helps people. Going back to school to get better at it soon.

I was an ICU doctor during the pandemic - and I can tell you from my own experiences it’s unfortunately rare for people to behave well under pressure. If it taught me anything acting for the decency and common good is a rare trait. My partner also a doctor found the same as did most colleagues

I would also ask you to consider that overwhelmingly black women and mostly black men voted for Harris. Black women have been at the front of the civil rights movements - and were instrumental in bringing about big changes for white women

So inherently your ‘good people’ did not abstain from voting and voting for Harris and those who likely felt they didn’t suffer either way abstained from voting. This comes down to the ethical question is inaction as bad as the action of voting for Trump?

People are dumb! That’s my point, I didn’t say they’re ethically perfect but people are dumb and don’t have time to think about this. That’s why they fall for propaganda. I’m sure 5-15% are ideologically committed to nationalism, but polls show that the election isn’t a reflection of the base.

I would argue it’s the same thing, inaction against fascism is not acting against it, thus, you are for it. I obviously don’t know your experience with public services or acting for people in times of dire need but there’s a lot of evidence here that inaction leads to the same outcome as MAGA

Yes but winning the popular vote is not the same as being president is it? What’s the list of first world countries that haven’t had a female leader and let’s think about what company America is keeping. Because that sounds like an excuse to me.
