What it’s going, as recounted by its ambassador to Dublin. She was withdrawn but is still the ambassador. It was suggested to her, were staff just going to work from home? She didn’t know. It seems to be a disaster for her more than anything else.

The only thing that seems clear is the 1980s building is being sold or having its lease ended. So thru are not closing the embassy to Ireland, just the physical building, apparently.

Pat Kenny interviewed her on Newstalk and she said that once the flag is lowered she no longer has a post. All dealings will be done through their embassy in London by an attache!

Yeah I heard that & imagine that every Irish politician would like to get off that lightly. He didn’t challenge her on her statements, despite independent verifiable evidence being available or indeed that her terrible failure as an ambassador was much of the cause.

I think he must have had her on a second time. She hadn’t a clue what was happening when I heard her. The whole thing seemed like a piece of theatrics to smear Ireland, which failed miserably. Even with media soft-soaping she was terrible at her job.

I don’t read the Irish Times, as I don’t think extremism or anti-LGBTQ platforms should be supported. The connections between the Embassy & certain ‘commentators’ in the newspaper are well known. Historians should only cite verifiable information. Plus the site is too expensive for a museum.
