I’ve been thinking about hope & consolation, a lot, recently. Heaney was one of the greatest Irish poets but he was also a chronicler of the Troubles*. He understood the darkness & horrors of civic strife. His every writing was deeply considered & apt.
Thank you for sharing this. It's something I've been intending to educate myself more on as of late. My mom talked about it very, very briefly when I was a kid, but that was around the year of the Belfast agreement.
