No one ever sat up & panicked when a petition signed by a hundred thousand pseudonyms arrived.

Nor did they see anything significant to worry about with the cutting & pasting of memes.

In fact, I’ve come to realise that many of the anonymous accounts on here, which paste memes & platitudes, in response to the far right, are either AI, grifters, or minors pretending to be adult.

Have you noticed that academics usually post under their own name and when they repost they usually include a personal comment upon the cited material? We are trained to present our own thoughts in a public forum.

Good point. It’s that thing where we are expected to stand over our views, in our own names, & to provide evidence for them & give some context. I’m sure Unis should just give a one month course in posting memes & it would be the same thing as a degree! Thanks for reminding me.

First year students often cite material without connecting it to their own argument. They have the impression that just researching the topic is sufficient effort. e.g. "How many citations are required for this assignment?" Some internet profiles are created using this principle.

I agree. So many hide behind fake names. Not only fake names but are also scared to use a real photo of themselves. I use to not show my photo because of scammers. This old lady is not scared of those too scared to show themselves

Absolutely agree. As someone who got at least two death threats a week on Twitter. Some, the Gardaí informed me of, & has to have a security process, I look forward to them hiding behind walls as I’m chased down the street… Solidarity!
