[2] The govt response was that new legislation was not required as ‘patients already have the legal right to receive care and treatment that is clinically appropriate and meets their needs’. This sounds reasonable until you realise it is the transphobic UK govt deciding what those needs are.

[3] The reply then sets out the many gate keeping procedures for access to trans healthcare. Despite it being universally understood that being transgender is not a mental illness, the hurdles involved assume that the patient does not know their own mind & forces them through layers of complexity.

Despite trans healthcare being described as patient led, the UK Labour govt deem whether treatment is appropriate or necessary, not the patient!

[6] Given the extreme anti-trans rhetoric from the UK Prime Minister & the Minister for Health - is it likely that trans ppl would be offered the treatment they request?

Additionally the reply glosses over the fact that waiting lists, even to get to triage, are years long & growing!

[7] The reply then mentions another hurdle, this time a new review based on the previous & widely discredited Cass Review [which was only supposed to look at minors]. The religious fanaticism of the Labour front bench & its anti-LGBTQ attitude is clear.
