If MAGA is a revolution, the thing we can say is; typically a minority of revolutionaries lives to tell their tale, and the outcome rarely, if ever, matches the thought.
Very true. Tbh, I’m just now appreciating how thoroughly my conditioning and education were informed by the “winners.” So many books already burned, so much knowledge already buried, so many ideas already banned. My mind and world had already been colonialized.
I think many of us have been victimized by our upbringing and formal education. In my case, the mental dissonance of childhood has been replaced by the harsh reality of adulthood, and while challenging, that for me has been mentally freeing. BTW, no one will be eating my face without a fierce fight.
I wonder if history will try to say that magas were revolutionaries that were led by a complete grifter, and that the revolutionaries failed to build the wall and make a white Christian nation because Trump was always just about power and money?
I did a lot of reading and listening to historians last night, and ours is unique and needs some sort of name or concept to define it as it doesn't satisfy some elements of current terms that have been defined by historians.
I need more caffeine and hope this makes sense. I'll give examples 1/
Plutocracy, autocracy, oligarchy, fascism, totalitarianism, etc. don't neatly align, but one thing is certain: We do fit the definition of a back-sliding democracy with some of the above elements in the mix. The figurehead (DJT) doesn't really have a fixed ideology. It's based on whims.
In the current dynamic, Musk hold power (money) and DJT needs the money to do as he wishes. The thing about Musk is that his own ideologies are inconsistent with one another so his are also based on nothing fixed. His goal is to grab all the money and influence the worlld.
I think in general yes: form a coalition to seize power and then one guy emerges from the pack and eliminates former colleagues/potential rivals, Hitler, Mao, Stalin, Saddam Hussein spring to mind.
Fortunately the most Trump can threaten is to "primary" rivals so it's going to be more clown car.
I'm no history professor. But read a ton of history. My take only: But I always say from what I read. Fascism is always 3 things: cruel, corrupt, and stupid (ie hilarious). So no I don't think this clown car is unique. Just tinted with American flair.
Then here’s the historical riddle…how do we, the kind folks seeking an equitable world, effectively coexist with the cruel, corrupt, and stupid?? This kind seems a feature not a bug among us, persistent and resilient against any appeal to higher morals or threat of legal punishment…🧐
I thought about this some more. I was was born in Poland, so studied Solidarity movement. They rose from poor treatment on the port of Gdansk. Eventually became 10 million strong of 30 million people. From that came a lot of positives. So I do think there needs to be a strong labor movement. (1/2)
I'm not sure possible in US given culture of individualism over collectivism.
On the micro I try not to be as angry about how ppl voted. I have his supporters in my life. I have taken the approach of "you'll find out" yourself. Its no longer my problem.

Personally - More reading. Less news.
