I’m grateful my Lawyering class has us using Plain English for Lawyers. Very early in 1L, I worked with a classmate who felt my suggestions sounded “too informal.” I think a lot of us assume we’re supposed to write like the cases we read in our doctrinal classes - even though some are unreadable!
