I almost quit ACOSF several times but I had friends that kept me going. Glad I did because she definitely comes around. It just took SO LONG. Brutally long.

She's annoying and arrogant. And *spoiler* I hate that she's the main cross over character in the third crescent City despite not being mated to the guy whose whole origin story is part of the plot. And we have to pretend she's a great warrior while she relies on absolute bonkers nonsense to win

I think she’s a very complex character & has had growth through the series. She’s a lot like her father who she hates. No one hates Nesta more than Nesta does. She makes bad choices but she learns to accept responsibility and do better. I love her & find her so incredibly fascinating.

Nesta is my 👑🐝. From a psychological perspective ACOSF gives you plenty of info on why she acted badly & the journey she takes to change. It take more courage to admit your failings & work to change. TL;DR, addicts don’t get that way by accident & they deserve restorative justice & 2nd chances.

I’m a grad student researching substance use disorder and there’s a lot of evidence that it is not a moral failing, it is a maladaptive coping mechanism for psychological pain. Nesta talks about physical abuse from her grandmother, favoritism by both parents, loss of her mother at a young age

Loss of her home and security at a young age, and she psychologically protects herself through anger and spite. Then she is kidnapped by Hybern, forcibly changed by the cauldron, thrown into a war she is unprepared for, watches her father be murdered, and blames herself for what happens to Elaine.

She reacts to that trauma by trying to numb out through sex and drinking. It’s a classic trauma response, as it is for most people who use. Ofc in the real world we have therapy, rehab, and 12-step meetings, not Cassian, a magical house, & Valkyries, but she has to choose to get better.

nesta and i have an enemies to lovers relationship. definitely despised her at many points but ultimately love her in the end. well not the end, but whatever this mysterious half decade cliffhanger has been. there is allegedly much to still unfold, so we will see 🤔

I didn't like her at first and thought she was a spoiled brat. I couldn't get past her being so mean and petty and coddling Elaine and not Feyre. But she made up for it in Silver Flames and in the 3rd Crescent City book. She's growing and changing her attitude....

I love the concept of the character, but hate the execution. She has such badass potential in every book, but it just falls so flat when interacting with either one of the other sisters.

ACOSF is still my fav of the books, though.
