We will, yes! On a related note, we can’t even house ourselves. Demand our governments at all levels eliminate red tape and get to building Canadian-sourced tiny home communities ASAP so we will ALL have homes. 🇺🇦🇨🇦

Regulating/blocking corporate ownership of rental housing and banning AirBnb would go an even longer way at helping (in the immediate).

Saw a study about mid-sized cities which had no influx of population but still saw their rents/property valuations soar.

Interesting thoughts. I’m thinking who owns the rentals doesn’t change how few there are compared to how many we need. Airbnb means income for a lot of people, plus the tourism it brings. I support better regulations, but not banning.

It does matter though. People who owns properties and live outside the communities don't care about the people, just outrageous their rents and lack of proper repairs! Everything is just patched because of cheapskate owners and property management companies.

The problem with housing is properties are owned by people who don't even live in the communities they are renting to. TOO MANY Torontonians own Windsor houses for example. They charge outrageous rates and they hire property management companies who are restricted from making proper improvements.

Exactly. Housing should be a universal right, not an investment vehicle. Make multi-home ownership prohibitively expensive. Tax it. You can own a downtown condo and a country home.

Not five triplexes, two condos and nine bungalows.

There are countries that legislate that sort of thing (GER? FRA?)
