I really miss when written tutorials were more common. I hate having to sit for 4 hours watching someone speak just to learn to do something when I read faster 🫠 I feel like everything keeps getting pushed more and more towards video and my brain just really hates it and how overly stimulating it is - ThreadSky

Gosh, yes. I can sometimes deal with a video, depending on what kind of tutorial I'm looking at... But especially with any computer or software or gaming related thing I absolutely NEED text + images instead.

It's the worst with computer or gaming stuff because I'm simultaneously supposed to be following along and watching them for exactly what they click on but also listen to them explain why they're doing something and constantly flip my attention between different windows 😵‍💫 it's so unproductive

Omggg hard agree! When I was tutoring calc for my sister, it was a struggle to find relevant blog posts and websites with how many videos YouTube tries to show me. Videos take too long! I can read!! Even just a singular pic is better than a whole video most times

Yes! This is increasingly becoming a thing in tech and it's insane. I don't need a 20min youtube video. I just need to know the menu path to a setting. It could be written as "menu > item a > item b > check the box for c".

I’m so with you on this! Like..sometimes seeing is better for something complex, but usually hand-in-hand with written word? If I want to watch someone skilled do something, that’s a different kind of video.

As much as I want to say that I think these are great points and I can relate, I wouldn't blame you if that comes off as disingenuous when I've contributed to the problem by having made hour-long guide videos for a game that I like 😅 Video's indeed a strong medium for better or for worse right now.
