It is willful ignorance: reading a post that says he was released along with a quote should prompt someone to research the facts, not post how dumb you are.
I like Mandela effects, but it’s clear the one the phenomena is named after is because people confuse Nelson Mandela with Stephen Biko. (And that’s a whole other issue.)
