I spend a lot of time writing about many of the horrors of American history, but one consistent bright spot, something about which it is right to be proud, is that we've never had a king.

And, USAians, from where we sit, want a King. Largely because participative democracy is hard.
Everyone wants to sit on the sideline and pontificate about how bad monarchy is while having a functional monarchy.
