Today most cultures lack a Tree of Life mythology to remind us of our connection to earth and sky.

It is true to say that we have not 'lost' the Tree of Life in modernist discourse, but rather that we have forgotten to see the branches (as retained in the motif of the 'vine') for the wooden implements (Moses' brazen serpent staff & the Crucifix).
