We're only ten days into 2025 & already 40 people in aged care homes have died from COVID. The answer is so clear: clean the air, test staff & give them paid sick leave, test visitors before entry, enforce mask wearing. None of this is rocket science ... Hospitals are terrible now. No masks. It’s frightening for really ill people with lung diseases. Sunshine Coast has more cases now amongst my friends than since 2020.

It's a disgrace. Everyone knows what to do. Yet, seemingly at all levels, no-one gives a damn. People in aged care are vulnerable. We should be pulling out all stops to care for them. Makes me wild. #CovidIsNotOver

What I don't understand is the families .... Where is the advocacy from families? Or have they all been brainwashed into thinking that this is normal, that people in aged care homes "are going to die anyway". Is that it?

Govt is not speaking about Covid. Nor is MSM. Some people - maybe most - need clear advice. "Covid is not over. Wear a mask." That could work. 🤷‍♀️

Had my 2-monthly infusion this wk.

Total masked ppl spotted during hospital visit:
5.
(1x N95)

Across the ward from me, a nurse kept pulling down her surgical mask to talk.

The nurse taking blood & setting up my infusion? Completely unmasked.

All other (immunocomp etc) pts on ward? Maskless.

We are the only family visiting aged care and masking in N95s. Every week. We've never seen anyone else unless there is an outbreak. So no, the vast majority of families don't care.
