Both socialism and communism have anti-capitalistic viewpoints. And America is extremely ultra-capitalist which brings about massive wealth gap economic inequality.

There are many different types of socialism and ways to implement it into a democratic capitalist society in order for capitalism not to go off the rails due to being deregulated and allowing corporations to do as they wish. Communism’s fault I think is that it’s too idealistic for the real world.
The USA had the right idea of creating checks and balances of power, but clearly those checks and balances had faults and loopholes in them to be undone so quickly like they have been because look at where we are right now.
One major weakness of capitalism that creates endless widening gaps of economic inequality and injustice is that it assumes that wealth’s ladder is endless. It’s short-sighted only geared towards the mindset of “create more profit no matter what” which drains the rest of us of finite resources.
Studies have shown that there is a certain amount of money that one needs in order to reach max happiness and thrive without fear of being left to rot. Any amount of money over that threshold and it doesn’t positively affect happiness anymore.
They have never been attempted. We would have to dissolve the concept of state for communism and flatten our hierarchy to pure democracy for socialism.
