Please define classical liberal. Everyone seems to have different definitions these days. I personally don't like labels for people, but it is a necessity to clarify the issues.

I feel a need to say something about this discussion. Our democracy is in danger of collapse because of an authoritarian leader. It will take ALL of us to fix things. Democrats can't do it alone, not without violence. We need to use our words and understanding before it comes to that.

Reach out to those you disagree with. Some of them have legitimate reasons for what they feel. Understand those reasons. If not for them, for yourself. For your own understanding of how to navigate this crisis. Please, for the sake of every American.

When I reach out to those I disagree with, I point out specific things that the individual has posted and debate those things. Some are reasonable and up for an honest debate.

Some, overgeneralize, make wild assumptions without referring to any specific argument, or prefer argumentum ad hominem.

You're right, I did call you MAGA. It seemed to fit your posts on your profile page. And as I said, sometimes for clarity and brevity labels are necessary. I should have said you appear to be MAGA. It wasn't meant as an insult. Just meant to be descriptive. My apologies if that wasn't true.

I voted for Trump because he espouses more of the classical liberal ideals I identified in my previous post, especially free speech.

I am leery of political actors who claim their country is full of enemies to be destroyed rather than full of citizens whose rights should be respected.
