One small bit of advise I picked up from my community garden, encourage folks to grow their squash, pumpkins, cucumbers, anything that climbs, on tall hog wire trellises. It will keep fruit out of reach for rabbits and such. Even a large pumpkin will be happy hanging from hog wire. Saves space too.

We don’t extension offices here. In any case it’s advice on accessibility we need - I’m not sure master gardeners would be the experts there… :-)

I apologize. I assumed that every county had an extension office. Any place I have lived so far has. Sorry about that. And they do almost always have a mobility expert amongst them.

No problem. We live in County Meath, Ireland. :-). I will see if we have something similar here but I have been a very keen gardener for a long time and I never heard of such here. I am very envious of the extension office system.

We have a tidy towns group who we work with and I am also secretary of Stamullen Revival, we are a registered community group. We can access grants so the question is where to look for them?

Go to your City, neighborhood and County websites. Write to local news outlets. It’s a story that shows caring neighbors who want to include all their neighbors in sharing their garden. Who need help.
