I will just say I have a different experience. Yes people entrench themselves in their beliefs, but there's always opportunities to at least engage in areas where we are congruent. I honestly don't believe the differences are greater than the similarities. I could be wrong. I hope I'm not

In your experience he hasn't been held liable for rape? He's not a convicted felon? He hasn't said racist things? He hasn't spoken often of his own underage daughters sexually? The thing is facts are facts regardless of "experience". He is those things - fact. People still voted for him - fact.

I'm not talking about Trump. I'm saying my experience with engaging with people who disagree with me, is obviously different than what you're having. This is nothing to do with some other personality other than yours or mine and the experiences we have interacting with other people.

People entrenched in the belief that a rapist, racist, homophobic, pedophile should be president are not people I have any congruent beliefs with.

I would just caution you not to throw everyone into the same basket who voted for one side or the other. I know plenty of Maga people who think everyone who voted for Harris is a horrible terrible person. You know that's not true and I know it's not true. Same going the opposite direction.My opinion

That's all well and good, but all of the people in one basket, no matter why they voted for a rapist, still voted for him. It may just be my opinion, but rape isn't something I can just set aside because I benefit somehow economically/politically from the rapist. One entire basket condoned rape.

I responded to you saying there are irrational and unreasonable people in every group. I said the group that voted for Trump is solely composed of those people and you said your experience differed. Yet anybody from a group that defends a rapist enough to elect him president can only be irrational.

I think we've probably discussed this as far as we can take it. If you have that much of a need to be right, and have no inclination to see the other person's point of view and why they came to it, then go ahead and do that. I choose a different path. Peace! I must attend to my garden
