Only workaround I've seen people mention requires a second switch + game or a friend with a copy that goes into syncro with a small Pokemon and stands next to a wall. Its limited to terrarium only though

I can definitely vouch for wanting to be in a good headspace if you wanna try competitive Pokemon. It can be kinda tilting sometimes cause of the amount prep work and matchup knowledge just a single team needs. Can definitely feel overwhelming 😮
