Except this rightward fascist trend isn't just happening in America, it's happening all over the world. Trump is a symptom, not a disease. The disease is conservatism.
I don’t support conservatives. I don’t vote for them. I also don’t lie about them or demonize them unjustifiably. My original post was that he is not a climate denier, he’s not.
Exactly. Can I better deal with Kinzinger? Sure. But ultimately, he (and Cheney) have views I could never get behind in a million years. And I’m over any member left of center commending them for doing with they SHOULD be doing as their party slides into authoritarianism.
I don't even know if that's true. Sure it's going to suck under Trump. It did before, but he's also now a sitting duck President. I suspect we will be fine, and by fine I mean the United States will continue to decline while everyone pretends it's just the President
“Just fine” is relative to each of our individual situations. There will be plenty of people that won’t be. And you’re right. It won’t be solely because of Trump. He will have a bunch of far more intelligent grifters that care about only themselves.
What I KNOW is that Trump made inroads with many of our key historical constituents this time around. Stein votes didn’t mean shit and definitely would not have impacted the outcome to the point of Harris winning.
Stein isn't responsible for the Republicans nominating Trump and lining up behind him in the first place.
I'm not sure why we're treating Republicans like they have no responsibility for their own actions. This is what their ideology leads to. We shouldn't accept anybody that doesn't renounce it.
Is that to imply that leftists caused the first loss? Those left of center historically suck at turning out in general, too. While I can agree that a vote for Stein is foolish, is there a breakdown that proves votes for Stein reallocated to Clinton means she wins votes she otherwise lost?
Thanks for this info! I think we could still just as easily point to better voter turnout or conversion of moderates that went Trump “for a change.” We are also assuming those voters would have otherwise gone Clinton. They clearly were also looking for change.
"In MI, Clinton lost by less than a percentage point, a deficit she could have covered from with half of Stein’s votes. Again in WI and PA, where Clinton lost by one point, Jill Stein’s votes would have covered her loss. Had Clinton won all three states, she would have won the election."
You know who else's votes would have covered her loss? Trump's votes. And also non-voters. But we don't talk about that for some reason. We just hyperfixate on these few thousand votes instead of the millions that voted for Trump or didn't vote at all.
We have this strange assumption that we're owed Stein's votes, but not Trump's votes or non-voters. I don't understand it. It's extremely shortsighted and seems to only be promoted by influencers who are more interested in keeping you angry than offering you solutions.

We need to maintain some perspective here.
