After leaving our initial preprint online for several years, we expanded and refined our analysis. The new version offers a more comprehensive view of how ecological forces and mutation‐order processes jointly drive speciation.
Surprisingly, even convergent headland forms exhibit intrinsic barriers. This indicates a larger role for mutation-order speciation than we initially believed.
We’ve also expanded theoretical frameworks to include environmental gradients and polygenic adaptation, giving a clearer picture of how Dobzhansky–Muller incompatibilities arise.
