Fun fact: Humpty Dumpty was the name of a large cannon placed on a wall of Colchester during the siege of 1648. It was 200 years later that Lewis Carroll illustrated Humpty Dumpty as a giant egg in his book, Alice in Wonderland.

He was a cannon, mighty and tall.
In Colchester's siege, he met his fate,
Crumbling down under fire so great.
No soldier nor smith could mend his might,
He lay in ruins through day and night.
A relic now of battles gone by,
Under the watch of the Essex sky.
