You’ve gotta make bad comics before you can make anything good. But you also need to be delusional about how good they really are to keep going. Keep the fire alive.

That being said, as a comic artist your goal is now to steer clear away from fandom twitter since you know, you have no control over what the writers and editors do.
Interesting. Since I both write and draw I am responsible and in it, but my fans are all children and mostly not online in the way I hear from them, aside from their parents.
The worst thing you can do when starting out in comics is get into a faustian deal with no exit plans. If you ask ANYONE who has worked on a superhero comic, it could be a miserable time if you let self-proclaimed "superfans" call the shots.
The last part is so true for years I used to try to make comics half finish them, notice they are bad and stop, this year after taking some courage I showed to some friends they found them funny and now I'm trying to clean and post them.
Like at least now I have a big folder full of them lol
Me I’m still trying to learn the basics of drawing to get to the point where I feel Comfortable doing even bad comics. Can’t do even bad comics if I don’t know perspective, you know?
My theory on drawing perspective is that you don’t need it. Keep the elements simple and vague if needed. Unless you want to be Katsuhiro Otomo’s background artist. If you can draw stick figures you can make compelling comics. Don’t get lost in the weeds of unnecessary details.
This is 100% just a hangup, and I know bc I am all about that hangup. I have major impostor syndrome about my self-taught amateur art style. There are a TON of people confidently putting out comics with “bad” art all the time. It’s just about making peace with putting yourself out there
You don’t have to post them. All of my early comics were made before social media. I’m happy about that, but also, wish I had that form of encouragement early on too. Don’t be afraid. Just jump in.
I made bad comics for years before I made a good one. Now it's self published and I'm working on the sequel and I'll absolutely talk your ear off about it if you let me. I love my characters and want to tell stories about them forever.

(I've been doing good enough for five years, and can barely look at my first comics now)
Within reason and not neglecting your other responsibilities, of course.
