Immediately after the 7th of October and for several weeks, there were several attempts to promote the release of the women and children through a hostage deal.

The Israeli government rebuffed these approaches for six weeks before agreeing. The offer that was on the table since 9th Oct.

Yair, in the United States the argument at this time I hear again and again is that an Israeli air strike killed the children (IE INN, Mondoweiss). Whereas TOI/Haaretz is claiming the Bibas family is now claiming Hamas murdered the children. Which is correct?

The autopsy conducted in Israel says they were not killed in air strikes. Israel's Institute of forensic medicine seems to me a more authoritative source than Hamas. But forensics can also get things wrong.

There's only two sources for both the claims. The first is what Hamas has claimed since last year, and continues to. The second is the conclusion the Abu Kabir Forensic Institute came to after examining the bodies once they had them. There is independent confirmation on neither, or detailed reports.

The forensic institute spokesperson talked about having shared the data & conclusions with partners for confirmation but I haven't heard anything further on that since their statement last week. It sounds like the family hasn't received the full report yet either.
