Although it's privately held, the list of shareholders in X were released last August. One thing that I noted about xAI is that it is established as a "public benefit corporation" so I do wonder if this is to confer that status onto X.

One thing about a PBC is that the mission to "maximize profits to its shareholders" is diffused to ALL stakeholders. PBC status basically protects the corporation from shareholder lawsuit when decision making impacts short term profits.

Exactly, I don't believe Elon has any kind of altruistic aspirations or plans to do any "good", he's just using it as a tool to neutralize investors.

Probably though I do think that he genuinely has convinced himself that he is going to save the world. His confusion & distress in more recent interviews kind of points to mental instability on that point.

Agreed that he was always unstable but it seemed to me like his instability went off the charts in 2020. Was watching Vivian last night & she did confirm that her father changed dramatically in 2020.
