Quite amazing how times change. When I built my first Zen powered PC in 2017 the thought of using AMD in a high end gaming build was treated as a joke. Now, making an argument for Intel in any but an ultra budget gaming build would be a tough one.
I never thought I would see the day to see Intel as a budget contender in the cpu space, yet here we are. I'm so glad that I slept in and missed a sale on Black Friday and picked up my trusty R5 1600. It's still kicking today.
This is brutal, some of the games have higher 1% lows with AMD compared to average fps with intel. I wonder how intel will make a comeback, would hate to have another monopoly
Fascinating work, thank you. The one thing I think you guys missed is that turning on RT features slams the CPU in a different manner than raster. I think this could be really good info to have. Maybe more of a challenge to get good data, because the GPU load will be different.
Those RT features may also have different CPU usage profiles at different resolutions too, so I understand that data might be harder to use and present.
