Naturally not everything is perfect, some of the voice acting is odd here and there but it’s very far and few between. I’ve had the most fun designing characters and giving them their own lives, fleshing them out myself. It’s a lot of fun!

People who have played the game through to completion all talk about how absolutely fantastic the final act is. "Pretty widely meh'd" is ONLY coming from people who have not finished Veilguard. The ending is undeniably superior in quality to the rest of the game, by a *huge* margin.

I just dislike the quality of dialogue. I don’t know if there is gender difference but the YA modern dialogue with “goofy” characters in epic fantasy combined with the game treating me like I have 50IQ are my biggest problems. I’m still enjoying the combat.

As one of those who bounced off, do you think the ending is really worth it? I just got increasingly frustrated with the uber light tone, companions (you like coffee, we get it OMG!) and lack of meaningful choices. Inquisition isn't perfect but I found myself wishing it was more like that & stopped.

I don't know how far you've played but the tone is not too light. There's plenty of dark content. And yes, the ending is absolutely worth it. The ending makes up for a LOT of the game's early weaknesses.

I definitely think the rest of the game is pretty weak by comparison. But for as subpar as the rest of the writing is, that third act manages to be the best sequence across the entire DA franchise. A lot of the game is very disappointing...but that ending definitely carries it.

Kala Elizabeth's review said something similar. She had a lot of gripes/grievances as a long time fan but said last third moved her to tears. I tried to slog it out but was getting too frustrated with it not being the sequel I wanted after a decade waiting. I'll have to watch someone else's review.

Genuinely don’t understand the hate for Veilguard. I’m almost finished now (passed the point of no return) & I think it’s a really great game. I get the “anti-woke” weirdos not liking it but I don’t understand why so many DA fans don’t like it either. The story really gets good in the 2nd & 3rd act.

It’s so much fun! I love the battles, they move by so smoothly and it’s really satisfying — especially playing as a warrior, imo. My first character was a slayer warrior who focused on two handed weapons, and MAN it was good.

I feel bad for liking Veilguard and I don’t even know why. It makes me happy and I only started feeling bad about liking it when I found out about how disliked it is. I know it can’t just be from its inclusivity alone. This game makes me feel seen and I wish I could play it blind all over again.

I have a weird complaint about Veilguard and it's that every time you enter a new area, you're just dropped right into it and immediately start talking to someone you've never met. It's a really jarring process. There's no landing process like in Mass Effect, or an overview of the place.
