If I had a traditional “beat,” which I never have, this dynamic would probably be at the heart of it. People who do social media really well, in a way that’s really profitable, are not going to fit into the constraints of a traditional newsroom. That’s why this whole scheme has never worked

I only have a rough draft of the deck I presented in 2012 to everyone at IGN, but I feel like I inadvertently fueled Kinda Funny when I proposed Greg Miller as a top level platform, and was rebuffed by the exec team (the “ohgod” note reflects I knew it was an uphill argument).
