Jumping off this, I really wish they had taught Death of the Author better because we wouldn't get all these people using that term to justify that once the product is published it's fine to buy, as if there isn't a financial link between creator & product during their lifetime.

I've said it before when anime fans were trying to justify supporting the new Kenshin anime:
"Death of the Author" only works after the author is dead in the ground. So long as you're doing things that support their work and give them money and mindshare, you're advancing and endorsing their agenda

"Death of the Author" was always for discussing the audience interpretation of the meaning of a story can have equal or greater weight than the author's intended meaning. It's "Death of the Author('s Narrative Intent)", it's not absolving the audience of supporting vile people.
