It’s not significant enough to matter imo. You’re paying at least 600 dollars more for an auto brightness feature and maybe a little less lagging (it’s already so fast it doesn’t matter). Get the air.

ipad pro lets you use more layers, a much larger canvas size, has a much longer battery life, and overheats WAY less. i sincerely recommend it for artists

While I'm happy with my iPad Pro (M1 - Model: MHQR3X/A from 2021) when it comes time to replace it, I'll be going to an iPad Air. While the pro is a lovely device, I really see it as a niche device. In Apple's world of good/better/best (or iPad/iPad Air/iPad Pro) the Air repents great bang for buck

The current generation of magic keyboards for the Pro has an Esc key. I think this is the only reason I’ve looked at them.

Honestly if you don’t plan on doing those, go air! It will save you money!
The only other reason to go pro would be for a slightly better battery or LiDar. But my air’s battery has been just fine under heavy use (including Apple Pencil and a keyboard attachment)

There is a huge difference in performance BUT if you’re not going to be doing videos or anything intensive- stick with the air, it’s powerful enough.

I use an Air as my drawing tablet but it can also play some games and do some editing. The pro just does that stuff quicker lol.
