Indeed. It is the people, including little old ladies, perhaps in walkers, who protested during the 6os and are here to participate. Let's not put them to bed. Let's hear their voices too.

It’s the ones that have supported and stood by their husbands for years while the husbands made oppressive and abusive laws. You know, the ones who vote for candidates like the Donald. We don’t need to hear their voices. They deserve a put down♥️
I'm almost 70. I don't use a walker. I hike, I clear timber and invasive species out of prairies and trails, I garden, I ride my bike, I monitor bluebird nest boxes, I'm a birder, and I'm re-doing my kitchen by myself. I find this meme completely offensive. @bsky.social
I found it offensive as well for its ageism and the targeting of older women to silence them. I understand they were referring to that segment of women who voted for Trump along with their husbands, but still. . .. that is not made clear and a lot of white young women did the same thing.
Another Blue Sky community member wrote that. It made sense so I adopted it as a possible explanation. But I have no official connection to Bluesky and it was speculation on my part. I apologize if it was misleading.
Me too!!! We remember the first time women could sign their own name on checks, getting credit cards in their own name, etc! We know the struggle & the fight it took to be seen beyond aprons! We definitely know how to win the battles!!!
I’m one of those old ladies, 76 no walker (a cane on occasion). We are still alive, maybe not as active as we once were. DO NOT COUNT US OUT YET! We still know how to fight! We’ve been doing it for way longer than some of you. Keep strong, do not lose sight that we are fighting for our democracy!
Aging is related to the body, a person is considered young as long as he/she does not grow old spiritually. Since life itself is a life-or-death struggle, it should continue until the last minute...
I didn't personally choose it; I was responding to it. I agree. I understand they were referring to a segment of women who voted with their husbands for Trump but that isn't made clear in the meme. So many older women are leading the resistance. Thank you, all
No need to apologize. I got it. I responded because people reading it might not understand the context of what we were writing without an explanation. 😀
I also want to say I reported the meme to Bluesky with an exact explanation as to why it is so offensive. They need to apologize and remove/replace it.
What is this rudeness toward older women? We are the damn backbone of this country. We work, we raise children. We take care of elderly parents and husbands, and you paint us like this.?
It was a meme that was promoted by BlueSky, not me. I spoke out against it. I have no idea why someone there thought it was a good thing to promote for their first anniversary. I thought it was in poor taste.
Okay, but it should be mocking the idea that homes can be affordable on one income, not encouraging a person to put an older woman in a walker to bed. It's discriminatory against older women and women have far more than enough discrimination against them now. We don't need more.
That’s not relevant to the original post. It’s a meme template that gets re-edited and re-used. Just explaining the use of this particular template for those who didn’t read through the subtext.
I don't care about the intent of the original meme. I care about ageism. I care about sexism. And I care about stopping the spread of sexism and ageism. Memes that encourage these ideas are damaging and harmful to older women.
Rah Rah Sisc boom baa!! By Kracky! Hey there are young ladies here (hello), who utilize walkers as well, from the early 70’s our chants might be a bit different but, we learned from the best, our friends who's older brothers actually went to war.. don’t tuck us in to early.. we have lots to say🫵💪🇺🇸🗽⚖️
Exactly. We all have much to say. Let's listen to one another and help one another. 😀 My message was in response to the photo on BlueSky saying they are a year old with a photo of a young lady who was helping an older woman in a walker. And Bluesy's message was "Let's get you to bed, grandma."
Yes, I agree! we have to listen to & help each other because we see truths & justice for everyone. Those who default to social norms that are toxic without choosing to educate themselves are damaged to some degree in my opinion. They are very fearful individuals, thus easily confused & conned=maga👹👿
Those little old ladies are responsible for the Women’s Right movement…they definitely should continue to be heard & respected!!! They have the real stories, they/we lived through it all!!! Younger generations have a lot to learn from them/us…WE remember when we didn’t have those rights!
What we were talking about is being tired of ageism and sexism. When you put someone to bed, they no longer have an opportunity to participate in the discussion. I want to hear what older women, some in walkers, have to say. They've developed a lot of wisdom.

Those that don't listen to us who lived through it before will FAFO!
I'm 61, I can still walk, although I wobble a little now after breaking my knee last year riding my bike.
I hope to keep riding until I'm very old.
