And that's a wrap on the 13th doctor! I really enjoyed The Power of the Doctor - it was nice to see some of the classic doctors return, and this felt the most like Doctor Who of Whittaker's run. I loved seeing Ian return at the end too!

The 13th doctor's run is very uneven. A few bright spots, but overall it took the show in a direction I didn't enjoy. The lore expansion was unnecessary and against the spirit of the show. I don't want the doctor to be the Most Special Person Ever In Time Lord History.
The doctor herself felt out of character. I think Whittaker could have been a great doctor, but she played the character as naive, insecure, and lacking in gravitas. That was partly down to the writing and directing, I think. I hope Big Finish rescues her with some audio dramas - she deserves it.
We got some of the worst stories of the series (the pro-Amazon episode had me rereading Capital and underlining pertinent passages), with simplistic, wrongheaded messages delivered in a patronising tone.
We had some companions who worked pretty well (Graham, Yaz) and some who were utterly forgettable (like old whatsisname and the other one). There wasn't enough room for their characters to be properly developed, and many attempts at characterisation were flimsy and unconvincing.
So overall I wasn't a fan of this era. I'll say that there were a handful of very good episodes, and it improved as it went on. The Power of the Doctor showed what could have been. To be clear, there are lessons to be learned from this era, but "female doctor bad" isn't one of them.
