It’s because they hate the concept of government. They don’t want democratically elected representatives (or anyone really) telling them what they can and can’t do.
Because that money would be used, hopefully, to actually improve the lives of others. They have a thing about staying on top and watching the little people suffer.
Trump announces tariff, share prices plummet. Billionaires buy a ton of stocks and shares as prices plummet. Trump then u-turns on tariffs at last minute, bumping prices back up so billionaires are now more valuable than they were. It’ll keep happening as a consistent pattern.
Because the stocks can rebound. Taxes are gone forever, and then are taken again the next year.
Hey I don't blame the rich and companies from doing all they can within the law to keep as much money as they can. The REAL problem IMO is that the law allows it.
If they would pay their fair share of taxes, that would minimize the tax burden of the middle/lower class, putting more disposable income in their pockets. Which would then be used to purchase MORE of their products. It’s win/win for them, but they’re too blind to see it.
To quote my well meaning father
"it's a slippery slope"
"if 'they' 'over' tax the billionaires what's stopping 'them' from over taxing us"
"You have to be eccentric to make that kinda money it should be celebrated"
"Someone has to pay the workers salary and they can't if the government 'takes' it"
I dunno, maybe "line go up!" or "It's a slippery slope! All my muny gone if I pay a bigger number!" I've read there's just a massive disconnect on many things when you have access to certain points of wealth. Things just happen, and other things don't effect you.
