hahahahs there's ton of linux distros out there that are beginner friendly (next next install), Arch is not one of them. I'm sorry u had to experience the despair
When research Linux, look at the package manager, the desktop environment, and distro packages. These are the important things. Linux is the underlying core. Linux is Linux, what you should be looking for is the feel of the experience.
Way I figure it, if I needed specific features, the guide wouldn't simply say "linux environment", y'know? That's basically all my criteria is, not looking for anything in particular, just a path to my goal.
Ex. Ubuntu and Kali Linux both are based on Debian, but have different shells. Debian and Ubuntu use bash while Kali uses zsh. Theses are the things you'd want to know before choosing a daily driver.
The best way to get the feel is to try them in VMs.
