Girl, why are you gatekeeping old growth forests when people are crazy stressed out and nature is calming and people don't get enough of it? In case you are gonna assume I live in Washington and we also have old growth. People need to see it to know we need to protect it.

Thanks for your question. It’s with a sad heart that I say, that the last remaining stands of Old Growth (and primary growth) forests are still being cut down today. I grew up in treeplanting camps - I’ve lived in cutblocks. Here’s an org working to educate and protect:

Yes, your response clearly shows that you’re stressed. Hope you’ve a forest nearby to calm your system down within. First of all, not everything belongs to us humans. All forests have the same affect on soothing our systems. Influencers are destroying wild spaces by revealing & promoting locations.

My sharings are as a person who grew up in the wilderness, who lives & works in the wilderness. Old growth is essential habitat for animals to birth babies, den & hide from dangers - the absolute worst of danger being humans. Yes, we must protect old growth. And who must we protect it from? People.

I grew up spending half the year in rural areas and the national forest. I taught people to appreciate, conserve, and protect nature. You are right the wrong people are getting out into nature, but just banning people completely from all areas I think is the wrong answer.

Elhwa tribe does conservation walks and it brings people into the fold. They were very successful pushing our new DNR head to stop timber sales!

This is wonderful education, & great to hear a success story. Do Elhwa guides walk people through actual “old growth” forests? Nice to hear of conservation success. Some remnants of old growth forests are within public reach & accessible for education. Hordes of visitors affects wildlife ecology.
