That's fair, but isn't doing something superficial like " renaming " the Gulf in exchange for actually helping the populace an acceptable trade? I don't like it either, and I know it's dumb for myriad reasons. But in my opinion the tradeoff is better than him doing it anyway and we get nothing.

Bernie, Liz Warren, and the Squad should form their own far-left party, led by AOC, and break away from the Dems completely.

The problem is, they wouldn't have a chance in hell unless they could get a candidate in every single race; state and federal, senate and house. Even then, it's a longshot.

One of the biggest flaws of the American political system is that it's almost entirely a binary choice. A left-wing third party would court the voters who are disenfranchised by the Democrats, so they don't vote.

the reason the US has always been a 2-party system is not because nobody's thought of starting a 3rd party; it is the systemic byproduct of winner-take-all elections
